Breezy

A song about becoming your bolder self and learning to live with the name you made for your freedom.

Breezy became more than a nickname.

At first, it was a playful way to describe the version of myself I was trying to become in Chicago. Someone lighter, louder, more confident, less afraid of being seen. But the funny thing about creating a new version of yourself is that eventually you have to find out whether she’s real.

That’s what Breezy is about.

It’s not as simple as waking up one day and becoming fearless. Reinvention is messier than that. You try things on. You overdo it. You get embarrassed. You make friends, make mistakes, stay out too late, write songs you’re not sure about, fall for the wrong people, learn the streets, learn yourself, and slowly realise the new version of you isn’t a costume anymore.

For me, Breezy represents the gap between who I was when I left home and who I became once I had room to breathe.

The song feels like a full-circle moment on Growing Into Me because it isn’t just about confidence. It’s about growth. It’s about the strange, brave process of becoming someone you once had to invent just to survive.
