I Love Your Smile
A song about the tiny details that make you fall for someone before you are ready to admit it.
I Love Your Smile is one of the gentler songs on the album.
It’s about the beginning of a crush, before anything has been said out loud and before the whole thing gets complicated. That stage where you start noticing details you probably wouldn’t notice about anyone else. The way someone smiles when they’re trying not to. The way their face changes when they’re listening. The little laugh they don’t know they do.
I’ve always been a person who notices too much. Sometimes that gets me in trouble, but in songwriting it helps. This song came from that soft, slightly embarrassing feeling of realising one small thing about somebody has started to matter more than it should.
It isn’t a dramatic love song. It’s not about forever or heartbreak or some huge confession. It’s about the warm little moment before all of that, when a person becomes brighter in your mind and you’re not quite ready to call it anything yet.
I think those early feelings deserve songs too. Not every romance starts with fireworks. Sometimes it starts with a smile you keep thinking about on the train home.
